Tulum, Mexico

A four hour flight and two hour drive away is the magical jungle paradise known as Tulum. I had the pleasure of spending a week in Tulum and am happy to share my photo diary and tips below! I highly recommend considering Tulum as your next travel destination. Days in Tulum can be spent biking or walking around, shopping, relaxing and tanning, doing yoga, and other activities. When going to see the cenotes, I suggest making sure it is not a popular and busy cenote as that does take away from the experience. I also recommend doing research on the lagoon, which I think is the Kanlum Lagoon. We sadly did not know about it until hours before our flight home and I think it should be a must on your list! Another activity to consider is touring the Mayan ruins. Unfortunately, I was insanely burnt most of the trip, which held me back from doing a lot of activities. Please go to Tulum, see the Lagoons, swim in the cenotes and walk around the ruins for me! MAKE SURE TO WEAR SUNSCREEN!

Hotels

We stayed at Be Tulum and loved everything about it. The food, service, rooms, pools, beach front... I could go on and on... we felt right at home. Other hotels to consider include: Coco Tulum, Jashita, Ahau Tulum, Sanara, Papaya Playa Project (lots of parties happen here), Alaya Tulum and the super cool tree house world at Azulik.

Restaurants

  • The food at Be Tulum was great! We loved our meals there.

  • Although the Azulik hotel is insanely cool and different, and definitely a hotel you need to see, I don’t think dinner there is that necessary.

  • If you have a pizza craving, you can stop by or order delivery from Jvanita Piavola

  • Hartwood is extremely popular and apparently delicious. We did not have a chance to eat there because they were closed most of the week due to holidays and fully booked. Make sure to make a reservation.

  • Posada Margherita is quite adorable and was really good. The menu changes frequently and the food is fresh! If you are craving homemade pasta and fresh fish, Pasada Marghetia is perfect for you.

  • If you are wanting a good steak meal, make a reservation at Casa Banana. I had the shrimp and filet skewer and loved it.

  • For an amazing view and thai food visit Mezzanine. The pad thai was really good!

  • If you are looking for a fun night of food and drinks, check out Arca, Gitano or Casa Jaguar.

  • Other restaurants to look up include Mateos, La Coqueta, Antojitos La Chiapaneca, and Curandero.
